2015 Annual General Meeting – 29th May

The 2015 Annual General Meeting was held by kind permission of the Duchy of Cornwall, at 10 Buckingham Gate, London. Moray Scott-Dalgleish spoke fascinatingly on his recently completed ‘Rolleston Collection’, and Lord Charles Cecil and Sir Humphry Wakefield were unanimously re-elected to the Committee.

 

 

Two Bridges Hunt Club Dinner

The Chairman spoke on behalf of the Society at the 80th Anniversary of the ‘Two Bridges’ Hunt Club dinner on Dartmoor. This Club, brought into life at the invitation of the hunting men of the Royal Navy, celebrates the four packs there. By immemorial tradition they open their country to one another the following day.…

The 150th Anniversary Northern Trip

  The 16th March was the 150th anniversary of RS Surtees’ death. In honour of that we asked the Masters of the Braes of Derwent, who hunt Surtees’ country, to bring hounds to Hamsterley Hall – his ancestral home – for a lawn meet. Annual Dinner 2013

Our Annual Dinner was held, as ever, on the first Monday in November and at the Carlton Club. Major Mark Edward M.F.H, Commanding Officer of the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery, spoke amusingly to “Surtees and the British Army” and the dinner was sold out within two weeks.

Northern Trip to Chillingham Castle


On the 16th march the Society went North to hunt with the Percy and have our Goose and Dumpling Dinner at Chillingham Castle, by kind invitation of Sir Humphry Wakefield. We then visited the newly restored grave and had lunch the following day in Hamsterley Hall itself.
