Although stories like ‘The Jungle Book’ remain popular today great swathes of Kipling have, for one reason or another, passed out of fashion and out of print. The Society re-printed the Indian Railway Series on the centenary of their first publication in 1988.
The books are facsimiles of the editions that First Class travellers in the height of the Raj read on the train themselves – down to original sketches and advertisements such as “Wilkinson’s Essence of Red Jamaica Sarsaparilla.”
